a love story

He heard this question echoed in the multiverse, the layers stacking on top of each other not quite perfectly, little differences jutting out from the sides.

The multiverse is always playing the game, naturally, without actually playing the game. In her understanding of humans and good, many humans would choose not to play the game at all. The best parts of the game are what naturally occurs, anyway. The worst parts are not worth the cost.

he turned to her “imaginary” inner romantic punk-rock anarchist. “What do you think makes a man?” He asked. The romantic punk-rock anarchist did not open his mouth. Probably something silly, like atoms. Probably something wild, like the sum of his actions and choices. He heard in response. The romantic punk-rock anarchist tilted his head. He stepped backwards, into the shadows, melding into them until he completely disappeared.

“Go then,” the lady in the corner said, her words sharp and filled with anger. “Go to her, and leave us be.” Waves upon waves of jealousy, fear, and hatred came from her direction, making him flinch slightly in regret.

YOU WEAPONIZED EMOTIONS

He nodded. Not himself, personally, but he could see them in their weaponized form all around him, filling up the spaces you wouldn’t expect them to be in. This is entirely different from the way humans currently weaponize emotions, a greater power used to belittle and control those weaker than it.

“Do you think mind control could ever be used for good?” They asked her. It was a trap, of course, as is everything – mind control at its basis takes away free will on an existential level that some would call spiritual, on the level of individuality and what makes a person a person. She shook her head from side to side. No, it can’t fairly be compared to everything else that could be argued forms of mind control.

They nodded, as if they agreed, though the air kept telling her that they were displeased with the answer.

the truth was that she could conceive of a super hero that makes efforts to use their “talents” or powers for good. Many different ways it could go, lessons to learn, warnings that could be interspersed all played in her mind quickly. Not everything, but just the little starts, little seeds. In a better world where mind control wasn’t real and active, she might even pursue those imaginings.

but her mind didn’t only belong to herself, and someone was watching. Without consent, without the right. Waiting to do harm with what she is given.

Well, the voice said this time, kind and calm, and this time female. At least we know it’s not God who will damn you to hell for having piercings. Take the warmth when you can, though you hear that while it’s not God, you are damned anyway.

The physical appearance of oneself is not the person, however, it does indisputably help. Mental health is affected by our physical appearance, as is the way other people treat us. As a fan of personal expression, I choose to alter my appearance to further express my love for not only the substance of humanity, but our physical selves as well.

I put my piercings back in.

I wear makeup and glitter, again.

I will wear flowers in my hair once more.

and with my resolve constantly renewing, I know that these things are not the cause of Love, but they are also not a hindrance to – the truth is: I am human. I am beautiful with or without makeup or fine clothing. I am beautiful when I am ‘in shape” and I am beautiful when I am ‘out of shape’. But what gives me individuality, my substance – that’s what makes my beauty different than other humans. Not that they don’t have substance, but rather that each of ours is a unique blend, and I am no different.
